Skin and hair care at the Tuesday OPD starts with an assessment, then Ayurvedic Medicine, diet and external care.
AMRUT AYU CARE™ · Tuesday Skin, Hair & Cosmetic OPD

Skin and Hair Ayurvedic Care in Pune: Conditions We See

Acne, psoriasis, eczema, hair fall, dandruff and pigmentation, managed from the inside with Ayurvedic Medicine, diet and selected Panchakarma.

Key Takeaways
Ayurveda reads the skin (Twak) through Rasa and Rakta, the nourishing tissues, and through Pitta, which governs heat and colour. Hair (Kesha) is read through Asthi Dhatu and Pitta.
The Tuesday OPD manages acne (Yuvanpidika), psoriasis (Kitibha), eczema (Vicharchika), hair fall (Khalitya), dandruff (Darunaka) and pigmentation (Vyanga).
Care is built in layers: Ayurvedic Medicine and Pathya diet first, external care such as Lepa and medicated oils, then Panchakarma such as Virechana or Raktamokshana only where indicated.
Long-term conditions such as psoriasis are managed with periodic review. Flare-ups are expected and planned for, and no permanent result is promised.
Ayurvedic care runs alongside your dermatologist's prescriptions. Nothing is stopped abruptly on our advice.
Read this first. A mole or patch that changes shape, colour or size, a sore that does not heal, a sudden widespread rash with fever, or hair loss with other symptoms needs medical evaluation first, not an Ayurvedic OPD booking. Never stop a prescribed steroid or immunosuppressant on your own; abrupt stopping causes rebound. Bring every current prescription to the consultation.

The Ayurvedic view

How Ayurveda Reads Skin and Hair

Skin is nourished by Rasa and Rakta, the first tissues formed from digested food. Pitta governs its heat and colour, Kapha its moisture, and Vata its dryness. When digestion (Agni) falters or Pitta runs high, the change often shows on the skin before anywhere else.

Hair is read through Asthi Dhatu, the tissue that also forms bone, and through Pitta. That is why the Tuesday OPD begins with digestion, sleep, stress and cycle history rather than with the skin or scalp alone.

Conditions We See at the Tuesday OPD

These are the presentations the OPD sees most. Each is managed alongside any dermatology care already in place, and outcomes vary by individual.

Acne (Yuvanpidika)
Hormonal, cystic and adult acne. Care works on Pitta, digestion and, in women, cycle regularity, with Lepa packs for marks.
Psoriasis (Kitibha)
Scaly, itchy plaques. A long-term condition managed with Ayurvedic Medicine, strict Pathya and periodic review; flare-ups are planned for.
Eczema and dermatitis (Vicharchika)
Itchy, inflamed skin with discharge. Shodhana where indicated, then Shamana, the pacifying phase, with trigger review.
Hair fall and dandruff (Khalitya, Darunaka)
Shedding from stress, nutrition, scalp conditions or hormones. Keshya oils, Nasya, Shiro Abhyanga and internal Rasayana.
Pigmentation (Vyanga)
Melasma and post-inflammatory marks. Varnya herbs, liver support and sun discipline, reviewed over months.
Premature greying (Palitya)
Read as excess Pitta. Pitta-cooling Ayurvedic Medicine and Bhringaraj-based oils support management; existing grey is not reversed.
How care works

What Ayurvedic Skin and Hair Care Includes

Assessment
History of digestion, sleep, stress and cycles, a look at the skin or scalp, and your current dermatology prescriptions. Nothing is stopped at this visit.
Ayurvedic Medicine and Pathya
Internal formulations matched to your pattern, with a diet that limits sour, spicy and fermented food where Pitta runs high.
External care
Lepa packs with Manjishtha, Chandan or Haridra, medicated oils such as Bhringaraj Taila, Takradhara for scalp and psoriasis, and Shiro Abhyanga.
Panchakarma where indicated
Virechana for Pitta-dominant patterns, at Ghorpadi or Manjri Bk, Hadapsar, or Raktamokshana (leech therapy), given at Ghorpadi, Manjri Bk Hadapsar and Wagholi. Both are considered only after assessment.
Review
Skin and hair respond over weeks to months. Reviews adjust the plan, and long-term conditions keep a periodic schedule.
Full Panchakarma, including Virechana and Raktamokshana, runs at our Ghorpadi and Manjri Bk, Hadapsar branches. Wagholi offers in-person consultation and Raktamokshana (leech therapy) sittings. Kharadi and Viman Nagar consult online.

Working Alongside Your Dermatologist

Bring your current prescriptions. Steroid creams, immunosuppressants and other dermatology medicines are never stopped abruptly on our advice; any change is made with your dermatologist, in steps. Ayurvedic care runs alongside that plan, and we share our plan with your dermatologist where you want us to.

Skin and hair conditions respond gradually, over weeks to months, and long-term conditions such as psoriasis need periodic review rather than a one-time course. Outcomes vary by individual, and no permanent result is promised. This page is educational and not a substitute for a consultation.

Questions patients ask

Frequently Asked Questions

How long before hair fall improves?

Most people are asked to allow three months of Ayurvedic Medicine, oils and routine before judging. Hair grows in cycles, so change shows slowly. The cause matters more than the calendar: hormonal or nutritional hair fall follows its own pace.

Will Ayurveda make psoriasis go away for good?

No. Psoriasis is a long-term condition. Ayurvedic care supports management: longer quiet periods, fewer and milder flare-ups, and a diet that helps. Periodic review is part of the plan, and we do not promise a permanent result.

Is Raktamokshana safe?

Performed by a trained doctor with sterile, single-use equipment, and only after assessment, it is a classical procedure that suits selected chronic skin patterns. It is not for everyone: anaemia, bleeding disorders, pregnancy and weakness rule it out.

Do I need to follow a diet?

Yes. Pathya matters more in skin conditions than in most. Sour, spicy, fermented and heavy food is limited where Pitta runs high. The plan is written down and kept practical.

Do I continue my dermatologist's medicines?

Yes, and you should. Tell us every current medicine. Ayurvedic care runs alongside dermatology treatment, and any change to a prescription is made with the doctor who wrote it.

What does skin or hair care cost?

The cost follows the plan: consultation, Ayurvedic Medicine, external care and any Panchakarma advised. It is confirmed at the consultation, before anything starts.
