Continuous pouring of lukewarm medicated oil over forehead is called as Shirodhara. The oil kept intermittently moving with gentle massage over forehead. Finally the hairs are washed with lukewarm decoction of Amla. Benefits: Shirodhara is the special head massage used for relaxation. It helps to de-stress the mind and helps to induce sound sleep. It has a soothing and calming effect. The aroma in the oil has an additive effect of relaxing and refreshing. Externally it helps to strengthen the hair roots. How it works: The lukewarm oil in excess quantity and gentle massage over forehead relaxes the mind by having remote action on brain and its components. Research have shown that such sensation induces calming and relaxing effects on mind. This results in sound sleep and refreshing effect. Recommended in: Insomnia, anxiety or neurosis, depression, lack of mental concentration, memory impairment, irritability, hyperactivity, several types of headaches, paralysis and other psychosomatic disorders. Contraindications: Chronic sinusitis, cold and cough, fever, conjunctivitis, glaucoma, scalp and head injuries, inflammatory diseases. Duration of Treatment: 20-60 mins

JANU BASTI

Special Oleation of knees A small well is prepared out of black gram/ wheat dough and lukewarm medicated oil is poured in it. It is kept for specific duration and recommended for continuous 7 days for best results. Benefits: Janu Basti is used in the treatment of knee joint conditions. It helps to reduce pain and stiffness in knee joints. It is also helpful to improve restricted movements of joints. How it works: The quantity of oil and its warmth pacify Vata dosha. It helps to lubricate the joints, strengthens the ligaments and tendons, relaxes the musculature and improves tone. Recommended in: Osteoarthritis, Osteoporosis & other diseased conditions of Knee joint Duration of Treatment: 30 – 50 mins
