Leech Raktamokshana

Leech Therapy (Jalaukavacharan) in Ayurveda Jalaukavacharan, or leech application, is a classical Ayurvedic bloodletting therapy used to locally remove vitiated blood and toxins from the body. It is performed under strict aseptic precautions. 🔍 Procedure: The affected area is first cleaned thoroughly. A live medicinal leech is then applied to the site. The leech naturally detaches after drawing approximately 15–20 ml of blood. After removal, the site is gently compressed and cleaned again. 🌿 How Leech Therapy Works: Leeches suck impure blood from the affected and surrounding tissues. Along with blood, toxins, inflammatory mediators, and accumulated impurities are removed.
