World Patient Safety Day: Ayurvedic Care Ethics, Pune

Ganpati Bappa Morya! Day 4 of Ganeshotsav. We're mid-festival now, and every OPD at AMRUT AYU CARE™ continues exactly as usual. Today is World Patient Safety Day, and we want to use it to say plainly how we practice safety in our own clinic.

Medically reviewed by Dr. Prashant Amrutkar, M.D. (Ayurveda), PhD Scholar in Panchakarma · Updated 17 September 2026

Every person is different. Take five patients who all come to us with frequent acidity. In Ayurveda, each of them will receive a different medicine, because the treatment is chosen according to each person's prakriti (natural constitution) and their personal history, not just the symptom. That is why, in our daily Panchakarma and pain-management practice, two things matter most: explaining clearly to every patient what we are doing and why, and being open about the exact dose they are receiving.

Key Takeaways
  • Today, 17 September, is World Patient Safety Day. This note is about our own practice, not anyone else's.
  • Informed consent: we explain every therapy, Panchakarma, Basti, Abhyanga, or internal Ayurvedic Medicine, before it starts.
  • Dosage transparency: every medicine we prescribe carries a clear dose, duration, and a point to check back with us.
  • Contraindication screening: a full case history and current-medication check before any Panchakarma or internal course.
  • No self-medication: please do not start, stop, or share Ayurvedic Medicine, including anything bought online, without consulting us first.
  • Book a consultation, or ask us about any of the above: 8698282507.

What patient safety means at AMRUT AYU CARE™

World Patient Safety Day is a good occasion to state, clearly, what we do for every patient, every time. Before any therapy, whether Panchakarma, Basti, Abhyanga, or an internal Ayurvedic Medicine, we explain what it involves and what to expect, and get your informed consent. Every medicine we prescribe carries a clearly stated dose, duration, and a check-back point; never a vague "take as needed." Before Panchakarma or any internal formulation, we take a full case history and check current medications, so we know what not to combine and when to hold back. And we ask every patient directly: please do not start, stop, or share Ayurvedic Medicine, including anything bought online, without consulting us first.

Where this shows up in practice: the Pain Management OPD

Thursday at AMRUT AYU CARE™ is our regular Pain Management OPD, led by Dr. Prashant Amrutkar (M.D., PhD Scholar, Panchakarma) - Joint Pain, Backache, Sciatica, Arthritis, and Neck Pain, with Ayurvedic Medicine and Panchakarma therapies like Basti and Abhyanga built around each patient's constitution (Vata). It is exactly here, before any Basti or Panchakarma course, that the contraindication screening above happens in practice.

Ganeshotsav, Day 4 of 10

Separately, we are four days into the ten-day Ganeshotsav window, running to visarjan on 24 September. Wishing every household celebrating a comfortable mid-festival week; all our regular OPDs, including today's Pain Management OPD, continue exactly as usual through all ten days.
