Ayurvedic care for cough in Pune at AMRUT AYU CARE™. Ayurveda names cough Kasa and reads it by Dosha: dry Vata cough, burning Pitta cough, or heavy Kapha cough with phlegm. The Saturday OPD manages lingering and recurrent cough with Ayurvedic Medicine, diet and selected Panchakarma, alongside your physician's care. Call 8698282507.

Key Takeaways
  • Ayurveda calls cough Kasa and reads it through Prana Vaha Srotas, the respiratory channel, and through the Dosha behind it: Vata (dry), Pitta (burning) or Kapha (phlegm).
  • A cough lasting more than three weeks, or one with blood, fever, breathlessness or weight loss, needs a physician's evaluation and a chest X-ray first. Ayurvedic care follows that evaluation.
  • Care at AMRUT AYU CARE starts with Ayurvedic Medicine and Pathya diet, then Nasya, steam or a seasonal Vamana only where the doctor judges them suitable.
  • Prescribed inhalers, antibiotics and other medicines continue exactly as directed. Nothing is stopped or tapered on our advice.
  • Care for tuberculosis is limited to recovery after the full course is completed; active or suspected TB is treated under the national programme, free of cost.
Read this first. Cough with blood, high fever, chest pain, breathlessness at rest, a cough lasting more than three weeks, night sweats or unexplained weight loss needs a physician's evaluation and a chest X-ray first, not an Ayurvedic OPD booking. Suspected tuberculosis is diagnosed and treated free under the national programme (NTEP); Ayurvedic care begins only after that course is complete. Never stop a prescribed inhaler or antibiotic on your own.

How Ayurveda Reads Cough: Kasa

Kasa arises when Vata in the chest turns upward and the respiratory channel, Prana Vaha Srotas, is irritated. The classical texts describe five types. The three the OPD sees most are read by Dosha, and the pattern decides the plan.

A cough that lingers after a cold, returns every season, or follows acidity and poor digestion is where Ayurvedic care has most to offer. Ayurveda links a stubborn cough to Agni, the digestive fire, which is why the assessment asks about meals and digestion as well as the chest.

Vataja Kasa: dry cough
A dry, hacking cough with a scratchy throat and chest discomfort, worse at night and in cold, dry weather.
Pittaja Kasa: burning cough
A cough with yellow phlegm, burning in the chest, thirst and a bitter taste, often alongside acidity.
Kaphaja Kasa: wet cough
A heavy cough with thick white phlegm, chest congestion and heaviness, worse in the morning and in the monsoon and spring.
Post-viral and seasonal cough
A cough that outlasts a cold, or returns with every change of season, where Agni and immunity need rebuilding.

What Cough Care Includes

1
Assessment
History of the cough, digestion, sleep and allergies, any X-ray or blood reports, and every current medicine. Red flags are checked first, and a physician's evaluation is arranged where needed.
2
Ayurvedic Medicine
Classical formulations matched to the Dosha pattern, such as Sitopaladi-type and Talisadi-type preparations, with Deepana and Pachana where digestion is involved.
3
Pathya diet
Warm water, warm meals, ginger and honey where they suit, and less cold drinks, curd, banana and fried food while the cough settles.
4
Nasya and steam
Medicated nasal drops and steam inhalation for congestion and post-nasal drip, taught for home use.
5
Seasonal Vamana where suitable
For adults with a recurrent Kapha-type cough, a Vasanta-season Vamana is considered after assessment, at Ghorpadi or Manjri Bk, Hadapsar. Not for children, and not for everyone.
Full Panchakarma, including Vamana, runs at our Ghorpadi and Manjri Bk, Hadapsar branches. Wagholi offers in-person consultation. Kharadi and Viman Nagar consult online.

Working Alongside Your Physician

Inhalers for asthma, antibiotics for an infection, and any other prescribed medicine continue exactly as directed. Ayurvedic care runs alongside them and is never a reason to taper or stop. If a report points to pneumonia, tuberculosis or another lung condition, the physician says so and routes you to the right specialist first.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does Ayurvedic cough care take?

A lingering cough after a cold often settles over two to four weeks of Ayurvedic Medicine and diet. Recurrent or seasonal cough needs longer and periodic review. Outcomes vary by individual.

Do you treat cough with blood?

No. Cough with blood needs a physician's evaluation and a chest X-ray first, the same day. Ayurvedic care is considered only after the cause is known and treated, and only alongside that treatment.

Do you treat tuberculosis?

No. Suspected or active TB is diagnosed and treated free of cost under the national programme, and that course must be completed. AMRUT AYU CARE offers supportive care for recovery after treatment, for strength, appetite and digestion.

Is Ayurvedic care suitable for children with cough?

Children are assessed by the doctor, and care is limited to gentle Ayurvedic Medicine, diet and steam. Panchakarma procedures such as Vamana are not done in children.

What should I eat and avoid?

Warm water and warm, freshly cooked meals; ginger and honey where they suit. Less cold drinks, ice cream, curd, banana and fried food while the cough settles. The plan is written for your pattern at the consultation.

Do I continue my inhaler or antibiotics?

Yes. Prescribed inhalers, antibiotics and any other medicines continue exactly as directed. Ayurvedic care runs alongside them, and any change is made with the doctor who wrote the prescription.

What does cough care cost?

The cost follows the plan: consultation, Ayurvedic Medicine, and any procedure advised. It is confirmed at the consultation, before anything starts.
