Why piles gets worse in monsoon

Piles (Arsha) is swelling of the veins in the lower rectum and anus. In Ayurveda it is understood as a Vata-Pitta imbalance affecting Apana Vayu, the downward-moving air that governs elimination. Monsoon makes it worse for a specific, avoidable reason: people drink less water because it does not feel hot, eat more fried snacks on rainy days, and sit indoors longer with less movement. All three worsen constipation, and constipation, not the swelling itself, is usually the real trigger behind a flare-up.

If you notice bleeding during motions, please see a doctor for an evaluation first. Bleeding needs to be checked to rule out other causes before it is treated as piles. This is not something to self-diagnose at home, and it is not something our Digestive OPD skips over.

What AMRUT AYU CARE™ does for Piles (Arsha)

Care begins with a consultation that assesses Prakriti (constitution), diet, and bowel habits, then corrects Agni through diet and routine. Fibre, warm fluids, and regular meal timing matter more during monsoon than any other season, when fried snacks quietly replace regular meals.

For suitable cases, we perform Kshara Sutra, a Panchakarma-based para-surgical procedure using a medicated alkaline thread, at our Ghorpadi and Hadapsar clinics. It is described here honestly: it is a clinical procedure with its own preparation and aftercare, not a painless shortcut, and results are not guaranteed for every case. Ayurvedic Medicine (internal formulations) supports easier, less painful motions alongside diet correction. Many patients report improvement; outcomes vary by individual, and severity decides whether diet correction alone is enough or a procedure is discussed.

Who this OPD also covers today

Monday Digestive OPD is not only piles. The same evening also sees Chronic Acidity (Amlapitta), IBS (Grahani), Constipation (Vibandha), and Anal Fissure (Parikartika), a condition that often overlaps with piles and needs its own careful evaluation.

Frequently asked questions

Does Ayurveda treat piles without surgery?
For many cases, diet and Agni correction alongside Ayurvedic Medicine is enough to manage symptoms. For more advanced cases, Kshara Sutra is a Panchakarma-based para-surgical procedure, not conventional surgery, and is discussed at consultation based on severity.

Is bleeding always piles?
No. Bleeding during motions needs a doctor's evaluation to rule out other causes before it is treated as piles. Please do not wait this out.

Which AMRUT AYU CARE™ branches perform Kshara Sutra?
Ghorpadi (Main) and Manjri Bk, Hadapsar offer the full in-person Panchakarma pathway. Wagholi offers consultation with referral for procedures. Kharadi and Viman Nagar offer online consultation with medicine courier, with procedures referred to Ghorpadi or Hadapsar.

Does this monsoon diet advice apply even without piles?
Yes. More water, less fried food, and regular meal timing support digestion broadly during Varsha ritu (monsoon), not only for piles.
