Post-Chikungunya Joint Pain Ayurvedic Care in Pune

Joint pain lingering after chikungunya? AMRUT AYU CARE™ Ghorpadi supports post-viral Sandhishoola once your fever has cleared. Call 8698282507. This Thursday, 20 August 2026, is our Pain Management OPD.

  • Scope first: care here begins only after the acute chikungunya fever has been medically diagnosed and has resolved. Active fever, rash, or suspected active chikungunya needs a physician first, not Ayurvedic care alone.
  • Red flag: persistent joint swelling, fever continuing beyond the usual post-viral window of a few weeks, or any neurological symptoms need medical evaluation before or alongside Ayurvedic care.
  • What we support: the joint pain and stiffness that lingers after the viral infection has cleared, not the acute infection itself.
  • Doctors: Dr. Prashant Amrutkar (M.D. Ayurveda, PhD Scholar, Panchakarma, 15+ years) leads today's Thursday Pain Management OPD. Dr. Amruta Amrutkar (M.D. Ayurveda, 12+ years) also consults.
  • Booking: call 8698282507 for the Ghorpadi (Main) clinic on BT Kawade Road.

Why chikungunya joint pain lingers after the fever is gone

Chikungunya spikes across Pune every monsoon and post-monsoon season. For many patients, the fever clears within days, but an aching, sometimes migrating stiffness settles into the wrists, knees, ankles, and small joints of the hands for weeks afterward. Ayurveda names this Sandhishoola (post-viral): once the fever's Ama-Pitta phase passes, the joints are left carrying an aggravated Vata, often worse in the morning or in damp weather. Persistent swelling, fever beyond the usual post-viral window, or any neurological symptom needs medical evaluation first, always, since Ayurvedic care alone should not be relied on to rule out a more serious cause behind similar-looking joint pain.

What our post-chikungunya joint pain protocol supports

Once active infection is ruled out and the pattern is confirmed as post-viral, AMRUT AYU CARE™'s approach works on four things:

  1. Snehana (oleation). Warm medicated oil, massaged into affected joints, softens stiffness and calms Vata.
  2. Swedana (fomentation). Gentle localized heat, used only where appropriate, never on an actively swollen joint without the doctor's clearance.
  3. Panchakarma-adjacent Vata therapies. At our full-Panchakarma branches, Abhyanga and, where suitable, joint-specific Basti support deeper recovery.
  4. Internal Ayurvedic Medicine. Classical Vata-pacifying formulations, dosed to age, constitution, and how far recovery has progressed.

Most straightforward cases ease gradually over a course of weeks; a smaller number carry a milder ache longer. Ayurvedic Medicine supports this recovery; it does not cure the underlying post-viral process, and outcomes vary by individual.

Questions we are asked this week

Can Ayurveda treat chikungunya itself?
No. We support joint-pain recovery only after the fever is medically diagnosed and resolved. Active infection needs a physician first.

How long does the joint pain usually last?
From a few weeks to a few months. Early, consistent Vata-pacifying care generally supports a smoother recovery; outcomes vary.

Which branch for in-person joint care?
Manjri Bk, Hadapsar and Ghorpadi run full Panchakarma facilities in person. Wagholi consults and refers Panchakarma. Kharadi and Viman Nagar consult online, medicine couriered, procedures referred to Ghorpadi/Hadapsar.
