Ksharsutra & Kshara Karma Ayurvedic

Ksharsutra and Kshara Karma are performed at our Ghorpadi (Main) and Manjri Bk, Hadapsar centres only, after an in-person examination at one of these two centres. A Classical Para-Surgical Therapy for Selected Fistula, Piles and Fissure Cases • What Ksharsutra is: a medicated thread, classically coated with Apamarga Kshara, Snuhi latex and Haridra, described in Sushruta Samhita for anorectal conditions • Fistula-in-ano (Bhagandara): the thread is placed through the tract, where it cleans the tract and supports gradual healing as it cuts through; it is changed at planned follow-up visits • Selected piles (Arsha): the thread ties off the pile at its base, or Kshara Karma applies a medicated alkaline paste to an internal pile for a controlled time • Long-standing fissure with a skin tag or hard edge: Kshara-based procedures are considered only after examination • Who it suits is decided at the examination: not every patient with piles, fissure or fistula needs a procedure, and many are managed with Ayurvedic Medicine, diet and sitz baths alone • Honest aftercare: mild burning, discomfort, a feeling of pressure and some discharge after the procedure are common, and the doctor explains the aftercare and warning signs in advance • Care planned by Dr. Prashant Amrutkar, M.D. (Ayurveda), PhD Scholar in Panchakarma, with 15+ years of practice in digestive and anorectal care • A conservative management option: it may reduce the need for surgical intervention in suitable cases, and we refer you to a surgeon when the findings call for it Safety first: an abscess (painful, hot swelling with fever) needs drainage by a surgeon before Ksharsutra is considered. Rectal bleeding is never assumed to be piles; dark or maroon blood, blood mixed with stool, a change in bowel habit lasting several weeks, weight loss, anaemia, or new bleeding after the age of 40 needs evaluation first, and we refer you for colonoscopy or to a surgeon when warranted. Bleeding disorders, blood-thinning medicines, uncontrolled diabetes and pregnancy need the doctor's review first, and the procedure is deferred when it is not safe for you. You receive a written aftercare sheet, Ayurvedic Medicine for wound care and bowel regularity, and sitz bath instructions. Who this suits: adults with fistula-in-ano, including a fistula that returned after earlier surgery or drainage, after assessment; adults with selected internal or prolapsing piles that have not settled with Ayurvedic Medicine and diet; and adults with a long-standing fissure with a skin tag or hard edge. It is not planned during pregnancy, and patients with diabetes are seen with blood sugar review built into the plan.
